History of the department

The Department of Information Technologies was established in 2016 at the initiative of the rector of the university, Professor Sergii Panchenko. Anatolii Kargin, a professor of the Donetsk National University (at that time the dean of the Physics and Engineering Faculty of DonNU, Vinnytsia), was offered to head the department, he was later selected by competition for the position of head of the department.

Following the development trends and prospects of information technologies, the future needs of IT specialists, the department, being a graduation department, was one of the first in Ukraine to undertake the training of specialists (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctor of philosophy) from the new specialty 126 “Information systems and technologies” under the educational program ” Technologies of artificial intelligence”. This decision has a basis: the team of the new department combines the experience and professionalism of professors and teachers who came to the department from other universities with long-standing traditions of training IT specialists, with the energy and enthusiasm of young teachers, postgraduate students, and master’s students — graduates of UkrDUZT.
