The material base of the department is constantly developing.
Now students are taught in modern classrooms, which are equipped with multimedia equipment and air conditioners.

In 1983, the idea of creating and installing a training car-laboratory on the territory of the institute appeared. Helped in the implementation of this idea II Hub, who in the early 80’s was the head of the carriage service of the Southern Railway.

Training car – laboratory
The Department of Wagons was one of the first in the institute to introduce computer technology into the educational process. Several generations of computers have changed at the department: Nairi-2, Iskra-226, Iskra-1030M, as well as a wide range of analog equipment.
Now the total area of the department is 418 m2. The laboratory base is represented by six laboratories, which are equipped with modern stands, devices and measuring equipment. Laboratory work and practical classes are also conducted in the laboratory car, which is located on the territory of the university. The computerization of the educational process has accelerated further. The laboratories of the department are equipped with modern computers, the number of which is growing over time.

Laboratory of cars and Laboratory of car brakes
In recent years, a brake test station for simulating the brakes of 30 train cars has been put into operation during laboratory and practical classes. The material and technical base of the department was replenished with premises for the creation of a new laboratory.
On the third floor of the second building there are classrooms 2.324 – Metallographic Laboratory, 2.325 – Cabinet of technical teaching aids, 2.326 – Teaching Department, room 2.323.
Specialized audience of information and measuring technologies
On the ground floor there are – 2.01 – Welding auditorium, 2.02 – Auditorium of non-destructive methods of quality control, 2.03 – Machine tool workshop, 2.04 – Lecture auditorium, 2.05 – Cabinet of technical means of training on educational and industrial practice, 2.06 – Lecture auditorium, 2.07 – Laboratory quality control, 2.08 – Welding laboratory.
