As part of efforts to expand international partnerships, a working meeting was held between representatives of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport and Brunel University London.
As part of its strategy to internationalise education and research, the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport (UkrSURT) held an online working meeting on 15 January 2026 between Vice-Rector Vladyslav Panchenko, Serhii Mykhalkiv, Associate Professor in the ERRS Department, and Professor Tat-Hean Gan of Brunel University London, United Kingdom.
The meeting focused on potential areas for joint research and preparations to participate in international grant consortia, particularly under Horizon Europe. Discussions centred on developing advanced predictive maintenance systems for rolling stock, implementing artificial intelligence technologies, and deploying digital twin models for axlebox diagnostics.
Particular attention was paid to integrating the results of international research directly into teaching and learning within the ERRS Department. Sharing leading European expertise enables the systematic updating of course content, enhances the quality of education for master’s students, and creates opportunities for students and doctoral researchers to participate in international research projects.
Cooperation with leading British universities is an important step towards ensuring that UkrSURT’s degree programmes meet the highest European quality standards and strengthening the innovation potential of Ukraine’s railway sector.
