The Department of Transport Communication performs significant educational and methodical work. All academic disciplines assigned to the department have appropriate methodical support, which is constantly updated.

This manual contains brief theoretical information, as well as methods for solving typical problems and control problems, which students must solve both in practical classes and independently to consolidate the theoretical material.

The manual examines the tasks related to engineering calculations of information characteristics of message sources and communication channels, as well as calculations of the quality of transmission of various information through communication channels, and which arise before operating engineers of existing transmission systems in railway transport.

The tutorial contains detailed information about messages, signals, interference, spectral and correlation analysis of deterministic signals and random processes, various signal transformations.

The main characteristics of communication channels are given, taking into account the increase in their efficiency. The basics of optimal reception of discrete and continuous signals, the basics of information theory and interference-resistant coding are outlined. The principles of signal distribution in multi-channel transmission systems are given.

The main provisions of the technical and economic justification of project decisions in the field of telecommunications on railway transport are outlined. This textbook contains new methodological approaches to outline the essential directions of using automatic control systems (ACS) in telecommunication systems, in revealing from new positions the essence and quality of action of functional elements of AAC, especially signal parameter difference meters. The main focus is on simplifying the teaching of traditional ideas and concepts of linear circuits, their use in radio electronics, schematic construction for various purposes.

The basics of the theory of electric circuits of direct and alternating current (both linear and non-linear), the basics of the theory of magnetic circuits, methods of analyzing circuits in the frequency and time domains, theoretical bases of operation and methods of calculating circuits with concentrated and distributed parameters: two-pole, four-pole, long lines are explained . The theory and construction of LC-, RC- and ARC-filters, solid-state resonator filters, as well as correctors of amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics of communication devices and automation are considered.
