HISTORY OF CREATION OF THE DEPARTMENT

The first department of “Transport Communication” in Ukraine was created as part of the “Automatics, Telemechanics and Communication” faculty of the Kharkiv Institute of Railway Transport Engineers in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Communications of the USSR No. 213 of June 10, 1961.

The founder of the department was professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Hryhoriy Nikiforovych Zrazhevskyi (1921-1977), who was the head from 1961 to 1977.

G.N. Zrazhevskyi was an excellent teacher and organizer. He formed a highly professional faculty of the department, defined the ideology of the organization of the educational process and directions of scientific work. Under his leadership, the laboratories of the department were quickly equipped with the necessary samples of communication equipment and educational models. This made it possible to immediately start classes for students in special disciplines and to carry out the first graduation of communication engineers – electricians with the specialty “Automatics, telemechanics and communication on railway transport” specialization “Transport communication” already in 1963. In advance, back in 1958, students were additionally recruited to study in a new specialty at the mechanical faculty of the KhIIIT, who were later transferred to the 3rd course, created in 1960, at the ATZ faculty.
