Research work performed by the Department of Transport Communications:

“Research and determination of methods and means of radio monitoring on the railways of Ukraine”.
“Research and formation of the list of requirements to normative documents on testing of the sensor for remote monitoring of the presence of rolling stock at the railway infrastructure facilities”.
“Study of existing duplex radio communication systems acceptable for use in railway transport”.
Development of ND “Rules for the organization and calculation of train radio networks”.
Development of ND “Rules for laying fiber-optic cables and cables with copper cores in the ground of the railways of Ukraine”.
“Research and laboratory tests of the multiservice radio access system in the frequency range of 10.5 GHz in the conditions of Znamyanka station”.
Study of technological conditions of flexible switching system for railway communication technological network on the basis of SI 2000 with development of technical conditions, their coordination with Ukrzalizstandart and in the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine “Ukrzaliznytsia” and registration of technical conditions in relevant state authorities.

In 1993 on the basis of the department a specialized academic council D64.820.01 was created for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations in the specialty 05.12.02 – telecommunication systems and networks.
