The purpose of training in the educational program

The purpose of training in the educational program is to acquire in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge, skills, abilities and other competencies sufficient to effectively perform innovative tasks in the field of design, manufacture, operation, maintenance and repair of non-traction rolling stock.
Students master the methods of mathematical modeling for use in modern technologies of car building, repair and maintenance of passenger and freight cars; master modern software packages for modeling high-speed rolling stock; learn to use computer methods of collecting and processing information, which are widely used in wagon building and wagon economy; learn to build systems for management, monitoring and diagnostics of rolling stock.

Addressees of the educational program

The educational program is addressed to applicants who are interested in gaining knowledge in the field of wagon building and wagon economy. The program will be interesting for those who plan to connect their future with the design, manufacture, repair, maintenance and operation of modern passenger and freight cars; for those who want to master one of the most important and classic professions of railway transport – a mechanical engineer in non-traction rolling stock. This is especially relevant at the present time, when the territory of independent Ukraine will be laid links of the three international transport corridors Europe-Asia. Therefore, it is quite clear that these areas will successfully operate passenger and freight high-speed rolling stock in Western European and Asian countries, and will significantly increase the demand for specialists in our field.
Training in the program provides the following amount of knowledge, skills and abilities, the ability to apply knowledge and form judgments:
✔ knowledge of the design, principles of operation, patterns, basic parameters and characteristics, research methods and selection of parameters of the main systems of non-traction rolling stock.
✔ ability to use knowledge and skills in technical diagnostics in the operation and repair of modern non-traction rolling stock, identification and elimination of causes of damage, planning and execution of repair work.
✔ ability to carry out activities for the development, design and implementation of production documentation for technological processes of construction, operation, repair and maintenance of railway transport facilities.
✔ basic knowledge of methods of automation of production and repair of cars, as well as the principles of building automatic and automated control systems.
✔ basic ideas about the basic laws and modern achievements in the field of technical operation, maintenance, repair of cars, as well as computer-aided design systems.
✔ modern ideas of the basics of applied ecology, knowledge and practical application of the principles of social and environmental consequences of their professional activities.
✔ ability to business communication in the professional sphere.
✔ knowledge of the basics of economics and organization of production and logistics.
✔ Ability to use professional knowledge in the field of mathematics (mathematical statistics) for statistical processing of experimental data and mathematical modeling in the field of production, operation, maintenance and repair of cars.
✔ ability to use a mathematical apparatus for practical use in the design of new car structures.
✔ ability to use professional knowledge and practical skills in the design of air conditioning systems and electrabilityical equipment of passenger cars.
✔ ability to carry out safe technical operation of life support systems for passenger cars.
✔ ability to develop technical tasks and technical conditions and design railway transport facilities taking into account aesthetic, strength and economic parameters.

After graduating from the university, specialists who have studied in this educational program can successfully work in:
– management, departments and branches of JSC “UKRZALIZNYTSYA” (sphere of transportation of goods and passengers, operation of railway infrastructure, industrial activity). You can find out about vacancies in the personnel services;

– NPP “HARTRON-EXPRESS LTD”;
– SE “Ukrainian Research Institute of Carriage”
and at many other enterprises and institutions.
The most common professions: plant or depot manager, chief engineer, technological engineer, engineer, foreman, mechanic, dispatcher, etc.

Additional Information

International activities.
Master’s students have the opportunity to study under the program “Two diplomas”. After graduation you receive 2 diplomas – European (Polish or French) and domestic (UkrDUZT). Our students also participate in the international ERASMUS + program. For more detailed information, please contact the International Relations Department of UkrDUZT.

Obtaining working professions and working in student groups.
Students have the opportunity to additionally get working professions: conductor of passenger cars, locksmith for rolling stock repair, car inspector and work during the academic year and in the summer in student labor groups, combining work with training. Also have an internship in paid jobs and receive education in a dual form of education.

Cooperation with production.
Enterprises and organizations that actively cooperate with the graduating department: car and passenger depots of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, NPP “HARTRON-EXPRESS LTD”, State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Car Building”, PJSC Kryukiv Car Wagon Building Enterprises, research and design enterprises and design organizations related to transport and carriage. The department also works closely with leading manufacturers of bearing assemblies for rolling stock, namely: SKF, Timken and Brenco.
