Education:

In 1971 he graduated from Kharkiv State University named after Gorky, majoring in “Industrial Planning”.

Candidate of Economic Sciences since 1991. He defended his dissertation in the specialized scientific council K 053.06.01 at Kharkiv State University named after Gorky, specialty 08.00.05 – Economics, planning, organization of management of the national economy and its branches. Thesis: “Methods of planning and evaluating the efficiency of production and new equipment (on the example of mechanical engineering)”. Supervisor – Doctor of Economics, Prof. V.P. Babich.

The main stages of scientific and pedagogical activity: Senior engineer, senior researcher, head of the sector of the All – Union research and production association “Soyuzturbogaz”; senior researcher, head of the sector, head of the department of the Research Institute of Management and Production Automation; senior lecturer, associate professor of the Department  Transport Economics, doctoral student of the Ukrainian State Academy of Railway Transport; Associate Professor, Professor of Economics and Industry Management; Professor of the Department of Freight and Commercial Management, Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Transport Systems and Logistics of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport.

Scientific activity direction:

Theoretical-methodological and practical aspects of assessing the economic efficiency of production and innovative solutions.

Under the leadership of Balaka E.I. five candidate dissertations were prepared and defended

Author of more than 200 scientific and educational publications, four textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science and 1 patent for a utility model.
