1990-1995 – Studies at the Sumy State Pedagogical Institute named after A.S. Makarenko
(SumDPU named after A.S. Makarenko) majoring in “Geography and Biology”, received the
qualification “Teacher of Geography and Biology”.

1997 – 2000 – Postgraduate studies at Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin
(KhNU named after V.N. Karazin).
2001 – Defended a candidate’s thesis on the specialty 11.00.11 “Constructive geography and rational
use of natural resources”.
2010 – 2013 – Doctoral studies at KhNU named after V.N. Karazina at the Department of Ecology
and Neoecology.
2017-2018 – Studies at Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy named after O.M.
Beketova, Master’s degree in “Civil Security”, educational program “Occupational Safety” (with
honors)
2020 – Defended his doctoral dissertation on the specialty “Environmental safety” on 21.06.01
(technical sciences).
2021 – The academic title of professor of the “Technology and life safety” department was awarded.

Scientific activity direction:

Problems of labor and environmental protection, rational nature management, ecology of
landscapes

Author:

More than 450 scientific and educational and methodological works, including about 200 scientific
articles in leading (specialist) scientific publications of Ukraine and other countries (including about
20 publications in Scopus and WOS). Co-author of 4 monographs. He is the author of 25
educational and methodical publications (5 have the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science
of Ukraine).

Awards and diplomas:

Awarded a commemorative badge of the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine (2016).

For his personal contribution to solving the problems of liquidation of the consequences of man-
made and natural emergency situations Yu.V. Buts was awarded the Diploma of the Ministry of
Emergency Situations of Ukraine (2006).
