Guarantor of OPP “Organization of International Transportation” Professor Andriy Prokhorchenko spoke a speaker at the VII International Conference “Railway of Ukraine 2025: Development and Investments”

On February 27, 2025 Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Andriy Prokhorchenko, Garant of the Educational and Professional Program of the Master’s Level “Organization of International Transportations” of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport, participated in the VII International Conference “Railway of Ukraine 2025: Development and Investments” as a speaker. The conference was held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, Kyiv.
In his speech, Professor Andriy Prokhorchenko suggested to rethink the basic principles of functioning of the railway system of Ukraine. The Ukrainian railway is mainly a freight railway system where passenger transportation should not restrain development. Deregulation, tariff flexibility and automation with digitalization huge potential for improving efficiency. Efficiency is not possible without innovations that do not exist in old monopolies. The issue of geographical elasticity of tariffs as a tool for improving the modal attractiveness of railway transport was raised. The cases of introduction of digital planners on the railways of Europe and North America are considered. It has been emphasized that although financial opportunities for large -scale infrastructure investments in Ukraine are limited, technological breakthrough is possible through automation and digitalization of operating activities.In addition to the speech, the professor attended all section meetings of the conference and took an active part in lively discussions in the sidelines, which allowed to gain valuable knowledge and practical ideas for the innovative development of the railway industry. This experience will be taken into account when improving the content of the educational and professional program “Organization of International Transportation”, in particular in terms of expanding digitalization, innovative approaches to tariff formation and integration with international transport space.
Professor Andriy Prokhorchenko’s participation in the event again emphasized the active scientific and professional position of the department, the university and his teachers in the formation of a modern vision of development of railway transport of Ukraine and improvement of the educational process.
