Teachers of the Department and conduct classes for students of all faculties. The department also performs research and methodological work in accordance with the main activities of the University. Therefore, standard and working programs for all subjects taught at the Department have recently been developed and published, as well as textbooks, lecture notes and scientific publications and teaching materials from all sections of training courses, including the interactive technique based on the Moodle platform.
The direction of teaching and methodological activity of the Department of Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection is training of full-time and part-time (distance) students for the Bachelor’s degree. Training is carried out according to the educational program Occupational Safety and Health in Railway Transport.

The textbook considers the legislative and regulatory framework of civil protection, safety issues in case of emergencies. Examples of man-made and natural peacetime emergencies are given. The Ukrainian unified state civil protection system and its actions to prevent and eliminate emergency situations, as well as the actions of the civil protection system on the railway during the elimination of the consequences of emergency situations are considered. Recommendations are given for protecting the people and territories from natural and man-made emergencies; improving the stability of functioning of facilities in emergency situations; forecasting affected, polluted and infected areas; conducting emergency rescue measures and other urgent actions in emergency zones and affected areas

Legislative and regulatory framework for creating safe conditions for human life is considered. The influence of natural, man-made and social environment factors on human health is analyzed. The manual covers theoretical, practical, legal and organizational issues of occupational safety, industrial sanitation, occupational health and safety, fire safety in railway transport. For heads of enterprises, employees of occupational safety departments, heads of structural divisions of enterprises, students of railway transport universities.
