We invite for cooperation both performers and customers of services in the field
of research on occupational safety, civil safety, chemistry, ecology and
ergonomics.
By order of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia, the Department was engaged in the
development of the Occupational Safety Regulations for Maintenance and Repair
of Passenger Cars. This regulatory document for the industry includes basic
requirements for occupational safety regulations during maintenance of
passenger cars on the tracks in the park and at the station; basic requirements
for occupational safety regulations during scheduled repairs in the depot and at
the service station.
In 2006-2011, the Department performed contractual research for the
Severodonetsk Production Union "Azot" for UAH 575 thousand on the following
topics:
 – justification and selection of the method of disposal of chemical product
residues from railway tanks and cars (31.05.2006 – 31.12.2007) ;
 – analysis and evaluation of measures for the reconstruction of the
absorption unit 4 of the standard acid production line of Shop No. 5 of
CJSC Severodonetsk Azot Association (01.08.2006 – 31.12.2007);
 – optimization of indicators of the acid formation process, including using
the cavitation effect (28.02.2008 – 01.03.2011);
 – development of industrial waste disposal technology (01.10.2008 –
31.12.2010);
 – improving the performance of the nitric acid production shop by using the
cavitation effect (05.02.2010 – 01.04.2011);
 – development of the bioethanol derivative production technology
(11.02.2010 – 01.04.2011);
 – assessment of the impact of the efficiency of gas pre-treatment before
NH3 conversion and NOx absorption on the performance of the nitrile of
acrylic acid workshop and issuing recommendations for their improvement.
The Department performed contractual research for the state enterprise
"Ukrspetsvagon" for UAH 60 thousand on the topic:

 – improvement of the production technology of building materials: cinder
block and paving slabs (29.12.2006-31.12.2007).
In 2011-2015, the Department performed research on the following topics under
government contracts:
 – physical and chemical bases of creating a self-hardening composite
multifunctional material for protection of personnel and railway transport
facilities against electromagnetic radiation, electrostatic fields, radioactive
radiation (No. 15/5-2011B, scientific supervisor Prof. M. I. Vorozhbiyan);
 – development of compositions of inorganic materials for construction
purposes based on CaO-SiO2-H2O and CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-H2O
compositions (No. 15/1-2015B, scientific supervisor Prof. M. I.
Vorozhbiyan).
The Department of Occupational Safety and Environment was founded as the
Department of Chemistry in 1930. Employees of the department studied
problems of quality control of coal from all mines in Donbass: they studied its
composition, ash fusibility, analyzed lubricants, metals, silicates and water.
Currently, the Department employs specialists in the field of occupational safety,
chemistry, ecology and ergonomics, who are engaged in work in the following
areas: creation of means to control the reliability of a human operator;
development of multifunctional binders for special purposes to protect against
radiation and electromagnetic radiation; improvement of the environmental state
in the regions of large chemistry; processing of harmful industrial waste and
environmental monitoring.
The Department is engaged in international cooperation through membership of
the teachers in international public scientific organizations and scientific contacts
with foreign universities for the exchange of experience. In February 2014, the
Department, in order to develop and maintain scientific and educational relations
in the field of security and civil protection, initiated entering the agreement
between the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport and the General
Milan Rastislav Stefanik Academy of Armed Forces (Slovakia), which is valid for
five years and will be extended by agreement of both parties.
Employees of the Department are the authors of two textbooks, five study
guides, three monographs, eight lecture notes, more than 20 author's certificates
and patents, more than 200 scientific articles on occupational safety, ecology and
chemistry.
