The department has created a scientific school for the development of the optimization design methodology of modern technical means of transport. The founder and head of the school is Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, academician of the Transport Academy of Ukraine, certified “European engineer-pedagogue” (DIPL ING-PAЕD IGIP) VI. Moroz.
The main areas of research of the scientific school include genetics of technical systems of railway transport, development of the optimization design methodology of new generation technical means for transport, namely the development of:
- principles of system design;
- a new design concept;
- functional and structural schemes of new generation technical means for railway transport;
- strategies for implementation of design and construction work;
- new methods of automated design.
At this time, the following main developments are recognized:
- complex methodical and software support for the optimization design of gas distribution mechanisms of forced transport diesels, which is effectively used for the modernization of D80, D49, D42, DTNA1, DTNA2 diesel engines;
- a new concept, strategy, methods and relevant models for the design of new generation technical means, with the help of which the designs of electrodynamic and gravity retarders of new generation cars are developed;
- scientifically based recommendations on improving the speed regulation systems of diesel trains of the operating fleet of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”;
- a new patent-protected design of the current-collecting device for high-speed electric rolling stock of railways;
- comprehensive recommendations on improving the air supply systems of railway rolling stock due to the use of new generation compressors;
- a new method of optimization design of traction gears of modern railway rolling stock;
- complex methodical and software support for design calculations on the strength of parts of technical means of transport.
The results of the completed developments have been implemented at various industrial and transport enterprises of Ukraine.
The main directions of scientific work of the department are:
- genetics of transport technical systems, current problems of creating new generation technical systems;
- conceptual and methodological aspects of designing new generation technical means for transport;
- theoretical justifications and practical tasks of creating mechatronic technical means for transport;
- improvement of the design of mechanical systems of railway rolling stock;
- optimization design and modernization of the main and auxiliary mechanisms of locomotive power plants;
- development of means of mechanization and automation in railway transport;
- theoretical justification and development of new technologies for creating machine parts with improved mechanical and tribotechnical characteristics.
The main results of research carried out at the department are published in the industry magazine “Railway Transport of Ukraine”, the magazine “Information and control systems on railway transport”, as well as in collections of scientific works of UkrDUZT and other leading educational institutions.
