Research work of the department

Range of research interests of lecturers of the department is quite diverse. The latter is due to the presence of specialists in various fields of humanities – philosophers, psychologists, sociologists.

Philosophy: history of philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of culture, social philosophy, cognitive theory, interaction of scientific and artistic knowledge, philosophical anthropology, virtual reality, dialogue of East-West cultures.

Psychology: age and pedagogical psychology, psychology of overcoming difficult life situations, prevention, theoretical and practical issues of personal responsibility, the psychological dimension development of personality as a future specialist, innovative methods of teaching and education in higher education.

Sociology: information space and its features, information society and prospects of its development in Ukraine, media communications, media as a tool of social engineering.

In recent years, under the leadership of prof. Petrushov V.M. the department carries out initiative research work “Philosophical and scientific-practical study of  constructive possibilities of integrated rationalism to create modern and state-of-the-art cognitive technologies to ensure decision-making by personnel of railway transport structures and units in conditions of increasing train traffic.” The results of scientific research of the teaching staff of the department are presented in many domestic and foreign publications:
Lecturers of the department also participate in international research projects. For example, Associate Professor Danilyan V.O. participated in the project “Characteristics of alcohol and other drugs use among youth in Ukraine”, which was conducted by the Center for Addiction Research at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, USA).

Student scientific groups work at the department on a permanent basis: philosophical (head – Associate Professor Lebediev V.O.), sociological (head – Associate Professor Danilyan V.O.), psychological (head – senior lecturer Alieksieienko N.V.). The results of scientific research of students, carried out under the guidance of teachers of the department, in the form of speeches and abstracts are presented not only at Student Scientific and Technical Conference of UkrSURT, but also at external conferences such as: Kharkiv National Medical University; Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University; National Technical University “KhPI Institute” and others.

In 2012, a series of publications “Philosophical Classics in Ukrainian Translation” was founded at the department, where the works of the following famous thinkers were published:

One of the areas of research work of the department is the work of theoretical seminar, which is attended not only by teaching staff of the department, but also by leading scientists from other universities of Kharkiv. Within the framework of  theoretical seminar, topical philosophical, sociological, psychological problems are discussed; approbation of conclusions of dissertations is carried out. In particular, among the invited specialists are: Pankov Heorhyi Dmitrovich, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor (Kharkiv State Academy of Culture); Rassokha Ihor Mykolayiovych, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Department of History and Cultural Studies (O.M. Beketov Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy); Baklanov Alexander Mykolayiovych, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety (OES); Filonenko Oleksandr Semenovych, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor of Philosophy Faculty (V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University).

During the years of existence of the department, doctoral dissertations (Professor Zahriichuk I.D., Professor Petrushov V.M.) and masters dissertations (Associate Professor Syvohrakova Z.A., Associate Professor Kolycheva T.V., etc.) have been successfully defended.

Professor Zahriichuk I.D. and Professor Petrushov V.M. are members of  specialized academic council D 64.051.06 for defense of masters and doctoral dissertations at Philosophy Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. On the basis of the department every year students of Philosophy Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Associate Professors Danilyan V.O. and Tolstov I.V. are members of  Sociological Association of Ukraine (SAU).
