About the department

The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport employs 11 teachers, including 3 teachers with Candidate Degree in Physical Education and Sports Science, 2 associate professors, 8 senior teachers, 1 Master of Sport of International Grade of USSR, 3 Masters of Sport of the USSR.

Teachers of the department pay considerable attention not only to the quality of comprehensive training of future specialists in railway transport, but also to the realization of a significant amount of fitness and health activity and mass participation work with students.

Students- sports performers of Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport are champions of many sports competitions of different levels, including international, national, regional, as well as World, European, Ukrainian Championships and Paralympic Games.

Every year, the university holds a large number of sporting and mass participation competitions, which are attended by students and staff of Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport.

Some competitions have become traditional in our university, namely “Kaleidoscope of Sports” quest, “Festival of Aerobics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Cheerleading” and “Health Day”, which is conducted every year on a grand scale and simultaneously involves up to 800 students of Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport at a time. Every year, the Department of Physical Education holds futsal competitions among university employees for the “Rector’s Cup”, futsal competitions among students for the “Cup of Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport Trade Union Cell”, Sports and Athletic Contest among faculties and first year students.

The department has free sports classes in sporting aerobics and cheerleading, chess and checkers, football and futsal, weightlifting and powerlifting, volleyball and basketball, table tennis and badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, track and field athletics, as well as a cycling club.
