The department is a graduate and prepares students for the following specialties:

Logistics of the department

Total area, sq. m – 420; including classroom area – 380; number of computer places – 35. In training laboratories № 211, 212, 213, 214 and 216 the most modern educational transport network and a local network with support of IP-telephony services are developed, the element of a network of operational and technological communication of railway transport on the basis of the equipment is developed. SPE “Stalenergo” and training complex of convergent telecommunication systems and operational-technological communication on the basis of compact software switch SI 3000 (cCS), control systems on the basis of computer equipment, VoIP gateways SI 3000 Peso, network equipment D-Link and MikroTik, terminal equipment (analog terminals SZ-370, Iskratel controller consoles, Iskratel station duty consoles, digital PPSC intermediate consoles) and computerized workstations equipment.

Research work of the department

Research work performed by the Department of Transport Communications:

• “Research and determination of methods and means of radio monitoring on the railways of Ukraine”.
• “Research and formation of the list of requirements to normative documents on testing of the sensor for remote monitoring of the presence of rolling stock at the railway infrastructure facilities”.
  “Study of existing duplex radio communication systems acceptable for use in railway transport”.
• Development of ND “Rules for the organization and calculation of train radio networks”.
• Development of ND “Rules for laying fiber-optic cables and cables with copper cores in the ground of the railways of Ukraine”.
• “Research and laboratory tests of the multiservice radio access system in the frequency range of 10.5 GHz in the conditions of Znamyanka station”.
• Research of technological conditions of functioning of flexible switching system for technological communication network of railway transport on the basis of SI 2000 with development of technical conditions, their coordination with Ukrzalizstandart and in the State administration of railway transport of Ukraine “Ukrzaliznytsia” and registration of technical conditions in the corresponding state authorities.
• Development of methods for determining the scope of work on the operation of telecommunications equipment.

Within the framework of the scientific seminar of the department the candidate and doctoral dissertations of the employees of the department and employees of other universities are heard.

A branch research laboratory of telecommunication networks has been created on the basis of the department.

Main areas of activity: development of telecommunication theory, on the basis of which new methods of information processing are developed, scientific substantiation of mathematical models of telecommunication systems components and improvement of telecommunication technologies in order to increase efficiency and quality of telecommunication systems and public networks. communication of railway transport.

Research work in the fields of radio monitoring and wireless access:

• Research and determination of methods and means of radio monitoring on the railways of Ukraine
• Research and formation of the list of requirements to normative documents on sensor testing for remote monitoring of the presence of rolling stock at railway infrastructure facilities
• Research and laboratory tests of the multiservice radio access system in the frequency range of 10.5 GHz in the conditions of the station “Znamyanka”

Research work in the fields of radio monitoring and telecommunications:

Development of methods for determining the scope of work on the operation of telecommunications equipment. Development of technological process of maintenance and operation of existing digital equipment of telecommunication networks of railway transport of Ukraine, its periodicity and timing.

Development of sections of the program of creation of software-technological and hardware-technical complexes of the centers of management of transportations. Description and architecture of the traffic control system and the main decisions to provide RCUP, GCUP communication facilities. Proposals for its modernization taking into account the introduction of modern automation tools.

Research work in the field of technological communication:

• Development of the normative document “Rules for laying fiber-optic cables and cables with copper cores in the ground of the railways of Ukraine”.
• Research of technological conditions of functioning of the flexible switching system for the network of technological communication of railway transport on the basis of SI 2000
• Scientific and technical principles of organization and implementation of an integrated technological communication system to ensure high-speed train traffic
• Theoretical bases of organization of network of operative-technological communication and synthesis of systems of providing high-speed movement of trains.

External relations of the department

The branch of the department operates on the basis of the Kharkiv signaling and communication distance of the Southern Railway.

In 2007, a branch of the department was established on the basis of the Regional Branch of the Center for Postgraduate Education of OJSC “Ukrtelecom” under the leadership of the head of this center Dovbni VD On the basis of the branch laboratory and practical classes are held within the schedule of full-time education in the disciplines of the department: “Automatic telephone communication” and “Switching systems in telecommunications”.

The department is equipped with modern equipment, on the basis of which an educational and training complex of operational and technological communication based on the equipment of SPE “Stalenergo” has been deployed.

The results of the department’s work with related departments of institutes and technical schools that are part of the educational complex:

• in the educational process: with Dnipropetrovsk University of Railway Transport, KEMT, HEMT, etc .;
• on methodical work: with Dnepropetrovsk University of Railway Transport, KEMT, HEMT, etc .;
• on training and advanced training: KEMT, HEMT LTZT (Lviv), etc.

In the field of telecommunication systems (joint scientific developments and educational and methodical works) the department “Transport communication” carries out joint researches with other departments of high schools of Ukraine (KHAI, KNURE, Academy of Internal Forces of Ukraine, Kharkiv University of Air Forces, Odessa Academy of Communications, KhPI, KPI, Lviv Polytechnic, DETUT, DNUZT) and CIS (MIIT, LIIZT).

For more than 50 years of activity of the department more than 3000 specialists have been trained, including deputy chiefs of railways, chiefs and deputies of the main department, services and distances of signaling and communication, heads of other enterprises and departments.
