In 1970, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Kharkiv State University named after O. M. Gorky, majoring in Mathematics.

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1976). He defended his dissertation at the Academic Council of the B. I. Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in the field 01.01.01 — Function Theory and Functional Analysis. Dissertation title: “Problems of Spectral Theory and Stability of Solutions of Systems of Differential Equations and Their Perturbations.” Scientific supervisor — F. S. Rofe-Beketov, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Senior Researcher.
