Research work of the department comes true by the branch research laboratory of jointless track (BRLJT – 67) in the close co-operating with the branch research laboratory of subclaotype bases and reinforced and special reinforced concrete (BRLJT- 6), departments of building materials and structures department and structural mechanics and hydraulics.
Research works (RW) are executed for money of the state budget, on economic agreements the customers of that are branches of JSC «Ukrainian railways», RPE “Croopariton KRT”, Ltd., CE «Kharkivsky metropolitan», «Kyyivskyy metropolitan» and others like that.
In present tense such RW are executed:
- for money of the state budget – Theoretical and experimental bases of creation of composition materials on the basis of mineral astringent for protecting from electro-corrosion and repair of building of railway transport (№ themes of 9/10-2022B)
- on economic agreements:
Development of the SBN Building of transport. Railways of track are a 1435 mm. Planning norms (67/3-22).
Revision of SBN В.2.3-19: 2018 Building of transport. Railways of track are a 1520 mm of planning Norm (6/7-22).
Conducting operational tests of under-rail rubber gaskets of the PRP-4, PRP-4.K type as part of intermediate rail fasteners of the KPP-5 and KPP-5.K type (67/2-21).
Performance testing of anchor of establishment type A3-2.1 (lightened) with reinforced concrete sleepers SB 3-0 as part of the KPP-5 of intermediate rail fastening unit (67/1-21).
Development and making alteration are to NSTU B V.2.6-209: 2016 railroad Ties reinforce-concrete preliminary tense for railways tracks 1520 and a 1435 mm

2014 – Development of technical instructions for the use of old-fashioned rails 12.5 and 25 m long in the tracks of CE «Kharkivsky metropolitan»
2012 – Development of instructions for extending the service life of rails on the tracks of CE «Kharkivsky metropolitan»
2011 – Realization of researches of processes of forming of overintensity lateral wear of rails and development of measures are in relation to his decline; Study of the operation of the rails in the conditions of the CE «Kharkivsky metropolitan» to assess the possibility of increasing their operational resource; Development of Technical Instructions for the technology of contact welding of rails with tension
2010 – Conducting research and determining the terms of operation of rubber gaskets in real conditions and providing recommendations on making changes to the average rates of material consumption; A revision of the “Instructional pointing is about organization of control of rails, repair and maintenance of дефектоскопних facilities in the travel economy of underground passage”
2008-07 – Realization of researches in relation to the estimation of providing of firmness of jointless track with long claotype плітями and development of recommendations is from maintenance of плітей of jointless track and realization on them of repair works; Development of the regulatory document “Instructions on establishing the warranty period of operation of track and structures after completion of track modernization works”; Research of the stress-deformation state of rail plates of a non-contact track when they work together with turnouts and development of recommendations; Conducting research and developing recommendations for the use of seamless track on areas with a mixed under-rail base.
The research work of the department is carried out mainly within the framework of the scientific school on the theory and methodology of non-contact track calculations and the interaction of the track and rolling stock, including in the special conditions of operation of industrial railways.
The scientific school was founded by the Honored Scientist of Ukraine, PhD, prof. Angeleyk Viktor Ivanovich (1908-91). Prof. Angeleyko is the author of more than 300 scientific articles, monographs, 7 textbooks, several articles of the Ukrainian Encyclopedia, trained 31 candidates of technical sciences. Scientific research was started under his leadership, most of which are relevant and continue to this day.
An outstanding contribution to the scientific activity of the department was also made by: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. O.M. Darenskyi, who solved the important scientific and applied problem of increasing the service life of non-public railway tracks on the basis of forecasting the state of the “crew – rail track” system, applying for these conditions for the first time the concept of a discrete under-rail base with nonlinear elastic-dissipative characteristics, trained 5 candidates of sciences; Ph.D., prof. V.P. Shramenko, who developed the theoretical foundations and practical issues of reliability and safety of operation of the non-contact track, trained 3 candidates of sciences; Ph.D., prof. Staroselskyi O.O., who initiated a new direction of research – electrocorrosion of reinforced concrete of railway structures and founded the industry research laboratory of corrosion and corrosion protection of railway structures and buildings, trained 1 candidate of sciences.
