The Faculty of “Railway Operation and Management” was founded in 1934 being named “the Faculty of Exploitation”. About 2000 of full-time and part-time students are enrolled to the faculty to obtain a higher education with the full and reduced (for the graduators of colleges and technical schools) term of education on the specialties and educational programmes which are proposed below:

Since 2014 the faculty together with the Educational and Research Institute of Continuing Education (NR ICE) have been training the Master’s Degree students due to the programme “Master’s Degree Student of Infrastructure and Operation of High-Speed Railway Lines” which is based on the project EU TEMPUS. Those students who have defended their Master’s Degree Theses obtain two diplomas – Master’s Degree Diploma in specialty “Transportation Logistics and Transport Management” with specialization “High-Speed Lines Management” of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport and Master’s Degree Diploma of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Paris, France) in specialty “Manager of High-Speed Lines Systems”.

The faculty of “Railway Operation and Management” includes four graduation departments such as: “Railway Stations and Connections”, “Transport Systems and Logistics”, “Cargo and Commercial Work Management”, «Operational Work Management» as well as two supporting departments such as: “Higher Mathematics” and “Labour and Environment Protection”.

General Information

The specialty which is obtained by our graduators of the faculty of “Railway Operation and Management” provides them with the wide range of prospects and gives the right to choose the future work which involves the process of transportation management starting from the lines’ enterprises and ending with Ukrzaliznytsia. Effective management is impossible without understanding all the aspects of transportation process; thus, the faculty students acquire the required knowledge on the moving train set, rail transport operation, modern means of automation and remote control, and economics of railway transport. Special attention is paid to the process of learning the transportation organization and methods of management at all stages. Extensive range of acquired knowledge gives a wide number of positions for the future railwaymen. The faculty graduators have possibility to successfully apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills not only on the executive positions of the railway transport institutions but also in the project institutions, scientific and research organizations, and private logistical firms.

The high level of knowledge is achieved due to modern material basis, due to the use of progressive forms as well as original methods of teaching, the use of authorial lecture courses provided by the university prominent scientists as well as of the railway transport specialists, due to the possibilities of new computer technologies, flexible curriculum, and management practice at the railway.

Considering the peculiarities of the railway transport the specialists of the faculty of “Railway Operation and Management” have fundamental professional knowledge as well as different practical trainings; thus, almost every graduator gets a promising position.
